Recruitment video Ministry of Defence – 43 Brigade Reconnaissance Squadron

SEEING WITHOUT BEING SEEN

For the 43 Brigade Reconnaissance Squadron, part of the 43 Mechanised Brigade of the Dutch Armed Forces, we produced a recruitment film aimed at attracting future non-commissioned officers (NCOs).

Reconnaissance is about gathering information without drawing attention. Translating that into a film meant finding a balance between realism and visual storytelling. The objective was to give potential recruits an authentic impression of the role, the teamwork and the environment they would be operating in.

Over two shoot days, a three-person crew filmed across multiple Dutch Defence locations, working alongside active military personnel and military vehicles in real training environments. Careful planning and close collaboration with Defence allowed us to cover a wide range of scenarios while keeping the production agile and efficient.

Working with a small crew meant being flexible, moving quickly and making the most of every location and shooting window. Rather than relying on a large-scale production, the focus was on thoughtful cinematography, authentic moments and a production approach that respected the operational environment.

The result is a recruitment film that gives an honest impression of the Reconnaissance Squadron and demonstrates what can be achieved with a clear production plan, an experienced crew and a focused approach.
